The Philippine Army issued a
review on its contract to acquire combat boots after issues came about out on
the unsuitable for combat operations.
Elite Scout Ranger complained on the flawed design of the
footwear’s, this was the triggering point General Iriberri ordered an immediate
review on the Php350 million contract of the combat boots.
“5,000 combat boots were already delivered
recently.” After Iriberri takes the army command.
Iriberri immediately ordered to
stop the next batch of delivery of Kubar boots and called for a contract review
with FilBoots the contract supplier of the boots.
“Based from contract, a total of
79,066 pairs of Kubar combat boots priced at Php4,500 per pair will be supplied
by FilBoots.”
Army spokesman Noel Deteyato said
on an interview that they are on the process of conducting field test to find
out what innovations should be done after a scout ranger complained on its
design.
The spokesman admitted that a
higher possibility that the multimillion contract will be scrap. But this
depends on the outcome of the test that was conducted.
Some feedbacks includes that the
gear was a copy of US boots in Middle East, so it is only good on dry areas not
in Mindanao.
