The Vice President of the
Philippines Mr. Jejomar Binay said that all the allegations of corruption towards
him were all “hearsay”, would not stand in court of law and were simply part of
a “circus”
hearing in Senate.
VP Binay said that witnesses who have
testified against the overpriced Building in Makati City have no evidence that
will point against him other than the testimonies before the investigations by
the Blue Ribbon Committee.
All the allegations of the rigged
biddings, that he earned kickbacks were only “hearsay” and no
documentary evidence.
“The alleged commissions delivered
in bags are just hearsay evidence from Vice Mayor Ernest Mercado. There is no
evidence,” VPBinay said. “None of their statements will stand in court
of law. They are only saying these things in circus hearings in the Senate,”
he added.
The vice president said that he never
received kickbacks claimed by Mercado.“The contractor of the building has directly
said that I have not asked nor was given any bribe,” Binay said.
“If there were any commission that
Mercado says he received, it clearly was just for him,” Binay said.
