Sagem announced its contract with
MBDA to develop then produce infrared seeker for upcoming light anti—ship
missile, ANL/Sea Venom, joint French—British program was launched within scope
of Lancaster House treaty.
Developed by the MBDA, this so
called new—generation tactical rockets will be installed on number of different
helicopters, including AW159 Wildcat of the Royal Navy’s, and French navy’s
Panther Marine and NH90. Sagem will replace the current missiles such as Sea
Skua and the AS15TT.
Sagem contractor for ANL/Sea
Venom seeker choses British company Selex Ltd to participate its development
and production, Sagem’s seeker for ANL/Sea Venom was based on un—cooled
detectors. Seeker supports the acquisition and tracking of the surface targets like
fast landing craft, light combat vessels and any land targets.
Seeker then send back images to aircraft’s
cockpit, contributing to the flexibility of ANL/Sea Venom missile and sets its different
firing modes, with the possibility of changing assigned target during missile’s
flight; or even choosing a precise impact point.
Sagem is now contributing a breakthrough
of uncooled infrared technologies to ANL/Sea Venom program, it was based on
optronic systems specially developed for FELIN soldier modernization system and
medium-range missile programs.
