Prosecutor nabbed by the agents of National Bureau of Investigation Friday of November
14, at the Serye Restaurant at Quezon City.
Asst. Prosecutor Desembrana arrested
while he allegedly in act of receiving the P80,000 money from Atty. Rey Cortez.
The said amount allegedly
demanded by the assistant prosecutor in exchange for favorable resolution in unjust
vexation case.
Cortez together with his clients
reported Desambrana's demand in a joint meeting with the Justice Secretary de
Lima Thursday of November 13, in which De Lima immediately order entrapment
operation.
Complainants said that Desambrana
was brazen asking for so—called fee that he call them up and remind about it.
Asked De Lima’s reaction, she
said "I already said it before and I will say it again - the risk causing
occasional embarrassment to us as an institution, I do not mind authorizing the
such entrapment operations even on regular basis, just to get rid our ranks
with scalawags and misfits”
"Our integrity should be ought as our
bedrock, but still the best policy, especially on part of the frontline service
providers such as the prosecutors," she added.
