Philippine Armed forces acquired from
AgustaWestland AW- 109, this is an armed version type helicopter. The said
warfare machines developed by British-Italian company, it was first released as
a commercial transport passenger.
This AW-109 was primarily
designed to be aerodynamically in terms of search and rescue responds. The helicopter
has two crews plus eight passengers with a total length of 42. 78 feet and its
width to36.09 feet, height 11.48 feet, its total weight is two thousand kilograms
when it’s empty.
PAF AW-109 is equipped with heavy
gun pods and 2 by 7.62mm general machine guns at cabin doors. It has also equipped
with missiles that can counter tanks, it has a total load of four rockets each
side with a total of 8 anti-tank missiles plus short unguided rocket pods. With
such weapon load it can be maneuver easily due to its turbo shaft engines that
can produce a five hundred sixty seven horsepower.
