Philippines to Boycott China Manufactured Goods

PH government officials undergo special meeting for possible means of boycotting product from China for the needs of the country and tries to look for a new source to import. The plan was almost perfect as such Philippine business group intervenes and disapproved its plan to boycott China made products.

In an official statement released by the business group “risking on a trade war towards china is not a good solution, since the Philippines economy dependently relying on goods from Chinese”. Chamber of Commerce chair Edgardo Lacson said that boycotting products from Chinese will result to consequences towards Philippine economic situations. The word “boycott” may sound good to most of the Filipino citizens who do not understand deeply, but we Filipinos should take in mind that a greater percentage of our overall economic activities were connected to them “Chinese”.

Lacson added “Our country is very much dependent with the Chinese made products, and if boycott will be implemented. The Philippines might be retaliated with Chinas allies. In return Philippine products will also be boycotted.

  1. Time for Philippines to change course and learn from it's mistake. Our country can live without Chinese goods. We should NOT be dependent to low quality/poisonous products from China.

  2. Of course the chamber of commerce will not agree to this because many of them are pure blooded Chinese and some of them are even secretly funded by the Chinese Militatry. And I say to this businessman what if the other way around happen. China will secretly start a covert war with the Philippines by putting poison on the products or even started to stop selling this products to the Philippines? What is our alternative plan?

  3. Don't be afraid of repercussion Mr. Lacson. Be afraid of what will your peso is contributing for when you purchase Chinese products... they will use it to create more armaments to invade our country.

  4. If we won't do this now...then when? If Vietnam already started to do it...why not Philippines? In the first place, it is never good to put all your eggs in one basket. If we won't diversify, and fine new import partners in the end...we will still be on the losing end when China decides to boycott us as well. Better do it now, rather than wait for it to happen to us. Our country...specifically our Government has always been reactive. Waiting for things to happen before doing something, it's about time we become proactive, and act now for the good rather than wait for the worst to come

  5. Boycotting products from china immediately is a very unwise move and would result to really bad economic consequences for the country. I hate what china is doing to our dear nation but our economic sphere is dominated by chinese goods and a large part of our exports go to china (i.e. The Banana Industry) so a boycott or an embargo against an economic superpower would be economic suicide for our nation. Now I am not saying that we should just give up, there is a solution to boycott China but we must prepare for the resulting aftermath first. I suggest we first find other trade nation partners with a economic potential like that of China and close a proper trade agreement with such a nation (India would be a good candidate) so that a counter embargo against us by China would barely be felt, I would suggest our officials make trade agreement with other potential nations first to create what I would like to call an economic parachute before we jump of the Chinese economic plane
