American defense ones again play
an important role on PH modernization upgrades and training, they will be here
to conduct military exercises in the Philippines under the CARAT program of
2014.
With a total number of 700
sailors including marines and also 300 Philippine military troops on NAVSOG “Naval
Special Operations Group” will participate on the joint exercise that
will start July 1 of this year.
United States warships, USNS
Ashland and USNS safeguard will be the main highlight for this years’ CARAT
training as they will be participating on the joint exercise. MH-60, P3C patrol
aircrafts, AAV all from US military will be used during the activities.
It is expected that lots of
military trainings will be taught. This includes classroom discussions, defense
awareness, amphibious operations, flight operations and EOD trainings. Gunnery
exercise is always be a part, thus for this year it will be located at Sampaloc
near Subic.
“The training is no way connected
with the territorial disputes, since this has been made annually and now it is
on its 20th year”. Rodriguez Said.
