The Makati Mayor Erwin Binay said
that his city government is prepared to face Senate probe on the issue on
overpriced construction of Hall building in Makati City a 12 storey building
office with parking floor.
The building construction was the
main basis of the plunder cases filed towards the mayor together with his
father Vice President Binay and other officials in the city.
The Makati Mayor issued a
statement in response to the resolution in the senate filed by Sen. Trillanes
for the investigation of the building construction. Commission on Audit (COA)
has already cleared the issue on overpricing in the course of thorough audit
last February.
Binay expressed hope that members
of Senate Blue Ribbon Committee will remain neutral and unbiased in conducting
the investigation.
“We are pessimistic that some members
of the senate, especially those who belong to the same parties as our local
opponents in the City of Makati, will set aside political and personal agendas
during the trial,” Binay said.
