All the seven combat utility W-3A
"Sokol" helicopters of the PAF (Philippine Air Force) are now active.
This was said by the spokesperson of Air Force Lt. Col. Enrico Canaya in a
given statement on last Friday.
"Restrictions on the use of 'Sokol'
were
now lifted on August 15. Material factor was ruled out since there were no
evident points to the material failure during the initial investigation. The
continuing investigation shifted to contributory factors that affected human
intervention. The investigation is still ongoing," Lt. Col. Canaya
said said.
The other factors were also being
looked, this includes environmental ones, Lt. Col Canaya said. He declined to express
remarks on whether this can be contributory to Marawi City crash happened last
August 7, adding that PAF (Philippine Air Force) investigators are still on the
process of looking into this angle.
Earlier, all seven combat utility
W-3 "Sokol" helicopters were grounded as a result of the said mishap."As
far as the aircraft is concerned, it is now safe to fly," Lt. Col.
Canaya pointed out. PAF (Philippine Air Force) acquired a total of eight units
of the "Sokol" from the Polish manufacturer PZL-Swidnik and
British-Italian firm Augusta Westland for a total budget of Php2.8 billion.
The recent Sokol incident
recorded one civilian, two people, and one member of the crew, were hurt.
