Philippine UN peacekeepers to undertake new trainings

The United Nation Filipino peacekeepers in Golan Heights will be undergoing training at Ziuoani Camp in the besieged region, after a week on its “great escape” the Syrian rebels who surrounded their military camp.

A total of 100 peacekeepers will take part in the organization training as part of the UNDOF (United Nations Disengagement Observer Force).


Colonel Roberto Ancan chief of the Armed Forces of the Philippines peacekeeping operations center said that the troops will be trained in explosives and weaponry, combat life support and first aid.

The exercises has already began since last week, involving our soldiers from Positions 60, 68 and 69 who have been repositioned following the recent standoff at Positions 68 and 69 with the Syrian rebels.

“The aim of the training’s was to keep our Filipino peacekeepers busy,” the official said.

The Philippine peacekeepers contingents in Golan Heights are still in Position 80 and Camp Ziuoani, which is the second company headquarters. A total of 83 Filipino peacekeepers were stationed there.
