Ph PF-15 BRP Gregorio del Pilar

PF-15 commonly known as BRP Gregorio del Pilar is a frigate by the Philippine Navy the lead ship of the class. This was the second Philippine Navy ship named after Gregorio del Pilar, a revolutionary Filipino general known for his function at the Battle of Tirad Pass.

From the year 1967—2011 the ship was a United States Coast Guard a high—endurance Hamilton—class cutter named from the WHEC-715 of USCGC Hamilton. United States decommissioned the frigate cutter last March 28, 2011 the frigate ship was acquired under the Excess Defense Articles and Foreign Assistance Act and is one of two ex-US Coast Guard Hamilton-class cutters to serve the Philippine Navy.


The ship was specially designed with high level of habitability and provides comfortable accommodations, this includes air conditioning. Gregorio del Pilar was the first Philippine military vessel to employ common shipboard application of aircraft gas turbine jet engines with the use of controllable pitch propellers with two 18,000 horsepower Pratt & Whitney gas turbines that propel ship at 28 knots


Gregorio del Pilar has two 2,600 kW Fairbanks—Morse diesel engines, capable of driving the ship economically at 31 km/h for up to 26,700 km nautical miles without refueling. It has rotatable bow propulsion provides maneuverability in tight situations.
