Opening its new military front in
Middle East, United States President Obama authorized for the first time for the
U.S. airstrikes inside Syria, along with the expanded strikes in Iraq as part
of broad mission to root eliminate the violent Islamic militants whose terror spread
across countries.
“We will hunt down terrorists who
threaten our country, wherever they are,” President Obama declared to
the nation from White House.
“This is a core principle of my presidency:
If you threaten America, you will find no safe haven.”
President Obama announced that he
nearly 500 more United States troops will be dispatch to Iraq to assist country’s
security forces, bringing the total number of American forces to more than
1,000.
Barrack Obama’s plans amounted to
striking shift for a president who rose from political prominence in part
because of his opposition to Iraq war. While in the office, he steadfastly
sought wind down American military campaigns in Middle East to avoid new wars.
