Chinese woman nabbed with Php35 million worth black coral trade

In ZAMBOANGA CITY the police arrested Chinese woman for smuggling of a protected seashells and black corals.

Local police on the City and its operatives of Philippine Center for Transnational Crime arrested the Chinese woman identified as Olivia Lim Li, 48 years old at her residence in the Barangay Sta. Maria Zamboanga city.


The husband of the Chinese woman alias Joe Pring, have managed to escape and believed to have slipped fast back to China, this was said by the police authorities.

Senior Superintendent Casimiro of Zamboanga City said that the couple has a warrant of arrest for violation of Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act for smuggling more than 40 tons of shells and corals that were seized 2011 of June.

The said corals, includes black, red, sea whip, tiger and many other shell types of different varieties, including the trumpet and helmet shells, were part of smuggled black corals and stuffed turtles with a worth of Php35 million that was intercepted in month earlier.
