Philippines advances in the “GLOBAL Competitiveness Ranking”

Philippines placed as 52nd out of the 144 countries in GCI (Global Competitiveness Index) for the year 2013—2014, this was according to the report from WEF (World Economic Forum).

Despite of being relatively low, country's ranking now closer to Philippine Development Plan of 2011—2016 target being in top 30 percent most competitive economies in the world.


Philippines went up by 33 notches since the 2010, a result of reforms during last four years, according to WEF officials.

 The Global competitiveness ranking composed of 12 pillars of the competitiveness, some which wherein country showed a remarkable improvement.


Rank 50 and below in GCI indicates a competitive advantage, Philippine aims in top 30 percent or rank 43 and above by the year 2016.
