ABU SAYYAF Group Leader with P5.3M bounty killed while resisting arrest

In Sulu, An Abu Sayyaf (AS) sub—leader was recently killed after he shot out with the law enforcers that were serving arrest warrant on him.

The killed sub—leader was identified as Sihata Muallom Asmad that resisted arrest but instead fired at joint police—military team arresting him in the Parang town  at Barangay Duyan Kaha.


The arresting team composed of police Criminal Investigation team, Detection Group and the military Task Force Zambasulta. The members were to pick up the sub-leader Asmad, who went by aliases as Tatag, Sihata Latip and Ka Tatang and Tatang.

Asmad known to be a Sulu-based sub—leader of Abu Sayyaf terror group was tagged in abduction of several foreigners, including the Taiwanese and the German nationals.

A Php5.3 million bounty was placed on his head due to notoriety, the chief said.  As Asmad resisted the arrest and shot the arresting team.


Colonel Arrojado of the Joint Task Group Sulu commander, said that soldier was killed while other was also wounded during the brief fire fight. The soldier was not yet named.
