The DND (Department of National
Defense) earmarked an amount of Php249.76 million for marine engineering
upgrade of the BRP Artemio Ricarte, as the most modern assets of Philippine
Navy.
The Ricarte, is a Jacinto—class
corvette, will be overhauled and its engine improvement as part of second phase
of JCPV Upgrade Marine Engineering Project, this was said by the in a bidding
invitation.
The sad funds will be sourced
from the allocation of the military's modernization program.
The said project's initial phase was
already completed in 2005 involved installation of new M242 Bushmaster and 25—millimeter
cannon as well upgrade of command, fire systems and control.
It includes was installation of the
Raytheon gyro compass, the Sperry marine naval Bridge Master E series surface
search radar, anemometer, GPS, and the EM logs.
The bidding last year for second
phase of the project, has allocated budget of Php216 million, that failed as lone
bidder, Keppel Marine Philippines Inc., has failed to meet documentary
requirements.
