President Aquino working to improve Philippine financial system so that OFWs stay home

In Singapore, President Aquino taken the dream of the overseas Filipino workers to work and live in Philippines to heart, in which it drives him to achieved better economy by inviting more businesses to invest in Philippines during his foreign trips.

Aquino narrated chance meeting with the OFWs during stopover at Dubai airport in Davos, Switzerland. The president was told, “Sir, speed up the opportunities back home (Philippines) so that we can go back home.” “Instead trying to convince OFWs to come back home,” Aquino said, “They’re actually trying to egg me out, for me to speed up all of the positive changes that will enable them to do so.”


President Aquino stressed out how important was for people to get used to the idea that government can work. He then also narrated instance when improvement in the educational infrastructure was done without raising taxes.


“We inherited a backlog of a total of 66,800 classrooms. We have budget that can support the planned construction of the 8,000 classrooms annually.  We finished 66,800 backlogs just in our third year in office. We are constructing now the necessary classrooms for increase of two years in our BEC (basic education program).”
