The Philippine known Islamic
separatist group ASG (Abu Sayyaf Group) has been spreading its terror in its
territorial places in Mindanao since early 90′s, but their activities have not
been limited to southern part of Philippines. In Manila, it had terrorist
attacks related from the ASG, which have links Jemaah Islamiya, and the ISIS.
Philippine Army waged decades—long
campaign to crush ASG. The United States has been involved in supporting Philippines
fight for counterterrorism efforts for years.

Locally, local government units
of different cities in Mindanao are the forefront in its campaign to eliminate terrorist
group. Cities often the site of hostage taking, grenade attacks and other known
terrorist activities. It’s been long and drawn out process with the Abu Sayyaf,
despite of its dwindling numbers that will not surrender.
The constant pressure that Philippine
Army applies, ASG managed to continue its recruit to new members. Former mayor
of the Ungkaya Pukan town Basilan revealed that the terrorist group lures members
by offering a salary of as much as P15,000 for a month, and fraction of ransom
money that they will receive from hostages they take.
I beat their offer!
