Mindoro town hall attacked by NPA Killing 2 cops and soldier

An estimate of 50 communist from the New People’s Army rebels, disguising to be military troops, attacked the town hall of Occidental Mindoro that immediately killed two policemen and an Army soldier.

Major Angelo Guzman the public information officer of Southern Luzon Command said the town mayor together with his administrator were taken as hostages by NPA rebels when they withdrew after attacking Paluan Municipal Hall in the Barangay Alipao around 4:15 p.m.


However, two government officials that were used as human shields recovered safe later.
Guzman, quoting the reports from field, that the rebels wearing military battle dress attire then used civilian vans.

Policemen that were on duty at Paluan Municipal Police Station engaged the said attacking of the rebels but apparently overwhelmed.

The firefight immediately killed two cops along with one soldier and the other four individuals were wounded.


The Solcom commander Major General Visaya immediately deployed the troops from 203rd Infantry Brigade for pursuit operations.
