NASAMS and AMRAAM Missiles Tested from Raytheon

The Armed forces of Norway, Turkey, Finland and Switzerland successfully fired the five Raytheon built Advanced Medium Range (AMRAAM) as part of Thor's Hammer test campaign. Launched from the F—16 and the F/A-18 jets and National Advanced (NASAMS) Surface-to-Air Missile System ground launchers, missiles achieved the five successful shots on variety of profiles and different targets.

Norway military shot one AIM-120C7 from the NASAMS Launcher and Finland shot two from the NASAMS launcher, Switzerland fired one from F-18 and Turkey fired one from F-16.

"AMRAAM world's most advanced air weapon, these successful tests again demonstrate missile's extraordinary effectiveness and its reliability," said by Mike Jarrett, the vice president of the Raytheon's Warfare Systems.

Exercise of the Thor's Hammer allowed Norwegian Air Force for them to validate their upgraded NASAMS system including introduction of High Mobility Launcher, and Finnish Defense Forces for them to qualify its newly fielded NASAMS system with AIM—120C7 missile in a variety of realistic battle scenarios.

For more than decade, NASAMS were deployed in U.S., Netherland, Spain and Finland and an undisclosed country. It is now also in the process of production for Oman under its contract received just this year.
