Honasan and Sotto to push the detention of 3 accused Senators in Camp Crame

Two senators Sotto and Honasan are pushing the detention of the big 3 jailed senators at Camp Crame, wherein their cases will be heard by Sandiganbayan.

Three Senators namely Jinggoy Estrada, Bong Revilla and Ponce Enrile charged with plunder, a non bailable offense over “pork barrel” scam.

Yesterday in a senate resolution, Senators Gringo Honasan and Sotto II filed resolution 798 stating that those 3(Estrada, Revilla and Enrile) should remained in Camp Crame so that they can continue to function with their respective duties as member senate member.

The resolution by the two senators pointed out that those three senators have the right do be deemed as “innocent until they are proven guilty

Two senators pointed that under Article VI Section 16 of the 1987 constitution, “Senate alone will decide how member will be suspended, disciplined or expelled.

The Sandiganbayan ordered the two senators Estrada and Enrile to be suspended within 90 days.

The Anti-Graft law is applicable on all government officials, thus those will be involved will be given a 90 days suspension in office, this is important so that those involved respondent will not use its office to influence the ongoing investigation.

That is not a penalty; it is only imposed by Senate” Drilon said.
