Syrian Jet fighter crashes as IS group fired anti-aircraft weapon

Activists say that the Syrian military aircraft has been hit and crashed in the city. This was the main stronghold of the Islamic State group militants.

The Britain—based Syrian Observatory for the Human Rights says that the crash occurred in the north—eastern city of Raqqa after a five airstrikes hit the said area.

The Raqqa—based activist uses the codename Fourat Alwfaa said that the crash occurred after the Islamic State fighters fired anti—aircraft weapons at the plane. But as of now, it was unclear if the said IS shooting had caused the plane crash.

The Alwfaa and Observatory said that a family was killed after the plane crashed into their home. Syrian officials rarely comment on such incidents.

The IS (Islamic State group) rules a proto—state from northern Syria to Iraq. The United States targets them in Iraq and plans to strike them in Syria.
