Initial Military upgrade worth P41.2 Billion Completed

Total of Php41.2 billion worth of upgrade projects to the Philippine military has been awarded and completed in the first 3 years of Aquino Administration. The data can be acquired from the DND Department of National Defense.

The total amount represents the initial 36 projects to the DND in respond to the Aquino’s action on the Philippine Military Modernization.

In detail 12 projects went to Army other 4 projects to the Air Force. The Philippine Navy got 16 projects this includes frigates BRP Ramon Alcaraz and BRP Gregorio del Pilar. Other two projects wento to the Government Arsenal and Armed Forces Headquarters.

We are increasingly changing the capabilities of our Armed Forces” different committees given authorities to conduct bidding and awards are doing its best in order for us to acquire the right supply that can support our military needs.

Way back 1995 when the congress passed the Philippine Armed Forces Modernization Act, this enables the military to modernize its capabilities to battle threats inside and outside country, in 15 years the government allocated a total of Php331 billion pesos.

Lack of funds and changing priorities for those who are elected in the leadership was the main hindrance for the modernization act not to be moving forward, as a result “Philippine Military becomes the most poorly equipped government agency in the region.
