DBM (Department of Budget and
Management) released its special allotment order or (SARO) for the acquisition of
12 fighter jet trainers from South Korea to the Philippine Military.
The information was confirmed by
the Defense Undersecretary Manalo for the FA-50s fighter jet acquisition issued
by DBM last June 24.
“With SARO released order,
Philippine national defense authorities can issue notice or NTP” Manalo
said on an interview. Once the NTP will be received by the supplier, the implementation
of the contract will start.

Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI)
and Philippine government have agreed to sign a contract thereafter the
awarding by the bidding committee for the procurement of 12 fighter jet trainer
last March.
The procurement of this jet was
considered to be the biggest item acquired by Philippine government to the Philippine
military in the call for Philippine Military Modernization program, aims to
enhance its capabilities to protect its territory at the same time upgrade for
Philippine Air Force.
Philippine government
aggressively upgrades its military capabilities in preparation for unexpected
territorial threats, like what happen on West Philippine Sea.
Delivery of those FA-50s fighter
jet trainers will be completed by the year 2017.
