The W-3A Sokol Helicopter that
crashed recently in Marawi during the convoy of Sec. Manual Roxas still can be
repaired. This was the given statement by PAF official.
"Primarily, based on the airframe damage,
it will be a costly and will have to take time to recuperate. The time frame of
the repair and its cost were not yet specified identified," Air
Force spokesman Canaya said on a report.
The damaged PAF asset is among
the 8 Sokol choppers of Air Force purchased as brand new from British-Italian
firm AugustaWestland and PZL-Swidnik for Php2.8 billion last 2012.
The Sokol chopper designated as backup
helicopter for the other one carrying Defense Secretary Voltaire Gazmin and Roxas, crashed immediately after its take
off at Ranao last August 7. Crew member and civilian were injured during the
crash.
The Sokol manufacturer has been
already notified on the incident in which the cause has not yet ascertained.
The remaining Sokol Choppers have
been grounded immediately as precautionary measure until the findings will be
released by the investigation team.
