The Makati city engineer was put
on hot seat on as Senator Peter Cayetano shot down local governments in its
claims that Makati City Hall Building is considered "world-class" and even
"green" structure.
The Senator grilled Makati Engineer
over specifications of the 11 storey parking building and office during Senate
hearing.
He said that “Php2.7-billion
structure does not appear to be a world-class as what Makati Mayor Binay
claimed.”
The senator presented photos of
the alleged overpriced building, which is subject of a plunder complaint
against both Mayor Jun jun Binay, Vice President Jejomar Binay and several Makati
officials.
"Wala po kayong kisame o
ceiling... Nakalabas lahat ng tubo, nakalabas yung mga electrical,"
the senator said to Dela Peña.
Dela Peña responded," May
mga areas po na dapat talaga naka-expose."
Apparently irritated by Dela
Peña's response, Cayetano said, "Hindi Ma'am. Huwag natin lokohin ang mga
tao. Hindi dapat naka-expose yan."
He show another photo, taken from
the building's parking area, which he pointed out that it was even dark during
day time.
"Ang world-class parking po
malakas ang ilaw para hindi po nate-tempt ang magnanakaw or whatever".
He also criticized parking system
installed in the building, which was earlier claimed to be an automatic.
"Hindi siya yung binibigay yung
card at automatic, parang sa Amerika, pipindutin mo, hindi po. Yung guard ang
nagga-ganun sa kanya dahil sira po,".
