COMELEC (Commission on Elections)
officially announced its plan to launch pilot test voting, in which this will
allow Filipinos from other countries to cast their votes with the use of
internet in the next 2016 presidential election.
COMELEC commissioner Tagle, they
are already on the preparation stage for the conduct of pilot test in countries
like in the Middle East, Hong Kong, America and Singapore.

This plan was the response on the
Senates call to find for a technology that will all allow overseas voting using
the available technology like internet during election.
“Those Pilot areas will be have
its testing period in the 2016 Presidential Election, since those countries
have the needed technology and large number of overseas Filipino, which are crucial
in the testing.” Tagle said.
Study has already been done to
find adequate technology with the use of internet in the casting of votes, in
response the call for OAV of 2013. RA No. 10590.
Stated in Section 28 “the
commission is allowed to “explore other more efficient, reliable and secure
modes or systems, ensuring the secrecy and sanctity of the entire process, whether
paper-based, electronic-based or Internet-based technology or such other latest
technology available.”
If everything goes fine this 2016
Presidential Election, we can use Internet for voting on the preceding elections and for registration on the next 2019
elections.
