“Senator Ejercito Estrada refuses
to go after BJMP and asked Sandiganbayan to keep him jailed in Camp Crame”,
this as the Senators’ reaction after Janet Napoles transferred to a different
jail facility managed by BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology).
In a motion by the Sandiganbayan
filed by the Senators lawyers, they state that graft court deny the prosecution’s
action that sought after his move to a BJMP jail “for downright merit.”
Estrada’s lawyers disproved the persecutions
position that Senator Estrada should not be detained at the PNP and transferred
to BJMP without any legal basis.
Lawyers explained that Estrada’s
transfer to an ordinary Jail as ordered by the court “may threaten the Senators
security concerns, considering the recent standing the legislator. It is way
better if he will stay on a safety and secured detention.”
“If the prosecution is merely
concerned about the special treatment issue, the Senator lawyer’s assured that there
is no special treatment.”
The Senators detention in PNP
custodial is not a manifestation of special treatment, but it is a mode of
arrest recognized by our Supreme Court. Estrada’s Lawyers said.
