Senator Santiago to file a bill supporting seriously sick patients

Santiago wants more support for those who are seriously ill but cannot afford”, the senator will file a bill for those who are seriously sick individuals.

Santiago introduced the “Senate Bill 2284”, calls for all establishments and stakeholder for a strategic summit, awareness initiative, health care training, quality life education and a committee focused on palliative research.


Those people living with serious illness may experience insufficiently treated symptoms, uneven care, and poor contact with their specialist” said Santiago, who is now battling with lung cancer to improve lives of every patient and its families, a public outreach and education on symptom management on those serious diseases.

Palliative care focused on relieving those stress, pain and other symptoms that will lead to serious illness, such as heart, renal, cancer, and liver failure, Alzheimer’s disease, lung disease and other related dementias.


The sole objective is to mandate DOH (Department of Health) to convene strategic stakeholder summit after a year of effective of the bill, to analyze health system barriers and look for strategic solutions.
