Senator Binay objected moves to
invite Vice President Binay her father, to a Senate investigation in connection
to the alleged overpricing of Makati City buildings. She said that the proper
way to hold him (VP Binay) to account was to file impeachment complaint.
Senator Trillanes said that vice
president would be asked to appear in Senate to explain his side in the
allegedly exorbitant cost of buildings constructed under his watch as the Makati
mayor. The probe was headed by Binay’s past party mate, Senator “Koko” Pimentel
III, whom he had falling out.
“But Senator Nancy Binay said that
her father deserved courtesy, and allegations against him should be addressed to
proper forum.”
The senator noted that when there
are accusations against President, he is not invited on the Senate hearings,
and same should hold for vice president, who is also not required to be present
at budget hearings.
