The Islamic State (IS) militants
disguised as Iraqi army driving a stolen Humvees killed 40 Iraqi soldiers and
captured the other 68 in western Anbar province, contravention through a worsening
Iraqi military offensive in the area where United States broadened its
airstrike campaign.
Suicide bombings by the militants
dealt a heavy blow to the government efforts to rein in militants, whose storm
has apprehended much of country’s north and west and even United States and its
allies began training Iraq’s Kurdish peshmerga fighters in order to bolster its
ability to battle Sunni extremists.
The IS militant attacks targeted
troops that were stationed at Camp Saqlawiyah near Sijir town, 70 kilometers
west Baghdad. As of now, no contact on the 68 captured Iraqi soldiers who were taken
by the militants to the city of Fallujah, an Islamic State stronghold.
After IS militant attacks, Iraqi
military withdrew 700 troops stationed in the area.
