China Accused beating a Vietnam fishermen

Vietnam accused Chinese authorities on the issue of beating several fishermen and demanded a severe punishment for those who are involved in the incident that could possibly increase the tensions in the sea dispute between the two communist neighbors.

The Foreign Ministry of Vietnam’s posted statement on its official website saying that a “Vietnamese fishing ship that was fishing near Paracel islands then was intercepted by a Chinese speedboats. The two Chinese speedboats vandalized the Vietnam fishing boat, confiscated the property and beat their fishermen.” The Parcels were occupied by China but also claimed by Vietnam.


The government of Vietnam demanded that the authorities of China should conduct investigation and severely punish those who are involved then compensate the Vietnam fishermen,“ a statement quoted from Le Hai Binh the Foreign Ministry spokesman.

Vietnam has already lodged protest in the Chinese Embassy.

Relations between the two communist countries plunged up to the lowest point in years following the deployment of Chinese deep—sea oil rig in the Paracels. China have sent flotilla of ships to protect the oil rig while on the side of Vietnam dispatched coast sea patrol boats and guard to force it away. The Vessels from both sides repeatedly rammed each other near oil—rig.


China then removed its oil rig in after it said that it had completed its work.
