Philippine FV106 Samson

The Philippine FV106 Samson was a British Army armored recovery vehicle, and it is one of the CVR(T) family. Its main role is to recover CVR(T) family of vehicles, but it can recover other light tracked vehicles such as FV430 series.

Samson was conceived in early 1970s with final design entering production in the year 1978. The hull was an all—welded aluminum construction. It usually carries crew of three operating a 3.5T capstan winch that can also utilized in lifting configuration.


The FV106 carries suitable equipment enable a 4:1 mechanical advantage with a 228m of winch rope. The winch is capable of recovering up vehicles up to 12 Tons. It is manually operated; the anchor is situated at the rear of the vehicle while operations are carried out.


The FV106 Samson fitted with floatation screen so it can operate amphibiously using its own tracks at 6.5 km/h or at 9.6 km/h if fitted with propeller kit. Samson can also be fitted with full NBC protection unit.
