NPA Member killed in a clash with the Military Forces in Negros Oriental

A member othe New People's Army rebel was killed after a firefight with the military forces in Negros Oriental today. This was confirmed by the military officials.

Tiongson, the public affairs officer of Army's 3rd Infantry Division, said that while the troops from 11th Infantry Battalion were on a regular security patrol when they clashed with an estimate of seven NPA rebels in the Guihulngan City 9:50 a.m. Philippine time.


Tiongson also said that one soldier from the military was injured in the estimated 20—minute firefight between NPA and the Military, the injured soldier was then sent to the nearest hospital for immediate treatment.

While the remaining soldiers pursuing the fleeing NPA rebel members, Tiongson said, their troops have discovered rebel camp nearby.

He then said that the camp feature is a training area, a makeshift facility for possible training instructions and rebel meetings, with kitchen and foxhole.


The military recovered a KG—9 submachine gun, a four backpacks with a rebel documents, printed training materials, kitchen utensils, assorted medicines and personal belongings.
