United States offered help to lower down power cost in Philippines

The information was obtained through United States Agency for the International Development and US Embassy based in Manila. Two countries the Philippine and United States governments recently launched the Energy Policy and its Development Program.

The EPDP program a four—year USD5 million project aims to strengthen Philippine government’s capacity to devise evidence—based policies and its strategies for a cost—effective use of its energy resources toward the environmentally sound force development.


Philippines become one of fastest—growing economies in Asia and this report clearly represents new opportunities for its trade and investment that will create jobs along the way. Crucial to this development is that businesses need a stable supply and a low cost power in order to be competitive while households need an access to a reliable and affordable electricity in order to be more productive,” said by a US Ambassador to Philippines Goldberg.

Goldberg said that the new partnership created would help develop and even promote knowledge, research and the best practices in energy sector that will sustain impressive growth that will be achieved by Philippines in recent years.

The said program will operate as independent think tank which will guide policy and its decision—making, provide inputs to establish academic and a policy program at University of Philippines.


EPDP among many projects between Philippines and United States, with its long history of partnership solidified under bilateral Partnership for its Growth.

  2. Just advise pnoy govt to revive BNPP after all its a political issue that mothballed it not technical.
