Vice President Binay unfazed by the priest’s rejection

The camp of the Vice President is unfazed by report that the official of Catholic Bishops Conference of Philippines does not want VP Binay to become country’s president.

Lawyer JV Bautista the United Nationalist Alliance interim secretary general, said that VP Binay camp continues to respect the leaders of Catholic Church when it comes to the spiritual matters.

However, the law must be followed when it comes to the leadership succession issue and Vice President must take over if anything had happen to the incumbent President.

The executive secretary of CBCP National Secretariat for the Social Action Fr. Edu Gariguez said that he does not want the incumbent leader (President Aquino) to resign because VP Binay would be a worse leader if that happens.

"I don't want to call for Aquino’s resignation because Binay will replace him. And that’s even worse, it’s scary," the CBCP secretariat said.

Fr. Gariguez's statement came out after VP Binay met CBCP leaders regarding all the allegations that he currently ignore that he benefited in the overpricing of Php2.2 billion City Building II in Makati.

In PDI report, Fr. Gariguez said that Binay's explanations to CBCP on various corruption allegations against him were all "unconvincing."

He believed that VPBinay as the President would be a combination of former President Joseph Estrada administration and the former First Lady Imelda Marcos "with houses as big as a palace."

Fr. Gariguez clarified that is his personal opinion and not an official stand of CBCP.
