Military Purpose of PH Small Unit Reverine Craft

SURC – Small Unit Reverine Craft, or commonly known as the “Advance Patrol” by Marines. Six of these units have been acquired by Philippine Marines last year of September as part of the Military Modernization.

After the transfer of 6 SURC units to the Philippine Marines from United States, it was automatically deployed to counter sea terrorism attacks and other illegal actions.


Marine insider told us that “SURCs mission is to offer mobility combat for ground operations on hostile areas”. As it was decommissioned most of its operations involves evacuation procedures and anti-drug operations from sea.

SURC has total displacement of 22k lbs with 440bhp at 3300 rpm twin yanmar diesel engines,  with a speed up to 39 knots, can carry up to sixteen soldiers excluding two crews. It is equipped with magnetic compass attached with LCD radar Raymarine version.


Weapon system includes heavy general machine gun and it has smoke launchers.
