Acquisition of twelve units of
KM-500 by the Philippine defense is part of the modernization program, a five
tone vehicle that can transport military operatives easily to target locations.
Its main function of KM-500 is
purely military activities, in fact due to its higher engine power the vehicle
has been decommissioned as transport vehicle for military.
KM-500 5 ton series as the base
model among other series, it has a maximum power output up to 270hp with optimum
engine and power lines powered by a D6AZ11.12 liter engine.
This vehicle is
considered to be all weather capable that can pull up to 155mm howitzer including
a platoon force and a heavy cargo even though on the roughest terrain encountered
during military operation.
The cargo body and cab are
covered with canvas (removable) that serves as the seats for the carried troops
up to 24 in number when it’s folded down.
