“Additional 1,000 personnel in
uniform for this year and 2,000 more in the next 2 years in order to meet the
10,000 uniformed force of the Coast Guard.” A goal set before the
Aquino’s term ends on 2016.
As to date, Philippine Coast
Guard and agency attached on DOTC has 606 officers with 6,142 personnel
guarding the country 36,000 km coastlines.
“This year 2014, 1,000 personnel
in uniform to be hired is the target by the PCG” this was said by the
PCG spokesperson Cmdr. Balilo, but its main goal is to set a 10,000 personnel
in uniform for the PCG for the next three years.
“New recruits will be commissioned
to the search and rescue team of PCG’s based in Capiz Roxas City”
Balilo Added.
The ongoing recruitment of personnel’s
will also be commission for manning the brand new patrol boats that ordered
from Japan for the next 2 years.
