“Philippine Navy plans to
construct sets of radars to secure country’s airspace from future threats”
stated by PN spokesperson Gregory Fabic.
“Itaas” was the name of
the project of Philippine Navy under the Assistance of NRDC, the project aimed
to create quality radars for our units. The project “Itaas” being one of the
priority projects, other projects were also named “Ilalim”, “Kuyog”,
“Tutktuk” and “Putok”.
Vice Admiral Alano officer in
charge of the Philippine Navy stated that those projects are designed to support
our defense strategies on our archipelago, so that we can focus more and
enhance our maritime operations. The project was executed successfully in partnership
with triad members.
Philippine Navy’s plan to build
own radar system will mark a new level and raise our status towards development
and research through the production of our new technologies.
Alano concluded that “The projects
will also prevent our country being a technologically outwitted and can struggle
rapid technological changes”
