Philippine was ranked fifth among
the most countries vulnerable to climate change in terms with the rising sea
levels. Philippine citizen who live on
coastal areas must move and relocate on a safer place, if the sea level
continue to rise with its current rate. At least 13.6m Filipinos will be in the
sea.
Basing on the study conducted by the
UP Los BaƱos on Climate Change, it shows that around 167,290 hectares on
coastal areas comprising of 10 provinces and 171 towns will be under water when
the sea level continue to rise at one meter.
Top 10 affected provinces are
Iloilo, Cagayan, Zamboanga Sibugay, Palawan, Camarines Sur, Tawi- Tawi, Capiz,
Bohol, Solo and Negros Occidental.
