“New military weapons and vehicles
will be coming soon as the country beef up defense” this is what
President Aquino repeats last Thursday.
Php40 billion has already been
spent by the government in the modernization and upgrades in the Philippine
Armed forces for the last 4 years. This is way better than the Php26 billion budget
by the Arroyo administration for the modernization of AFP in its 10 years of
office.
During the leadership of Aquino
the Philippine defense has acquired “2 Class Hamilton Cutters, 8 Combat Sokol
Utility Helicopters, 3 Naval AW-109 Helicopters, 4 UH-1 Refurbished Helicopters
and Tagbanua this is a locally build craft utility unit.”
The President Added that the
military is expecting to have the “2 FA-50 Fighter Jet trainers by next year and
the rest will follow before the year 2017”.
Other military equipment will be received by the armed forces of the Philippines
which includes “17 UH-1 refurbished helicopters,
8 combat utility helicopters, 2 patrol aircraft (Long range), six support
aircraft, 2 helicopters (Anti-submarine), 2 frigates and 3 multipurpose crafts
that is capable of anti missile”.
The first batch of “M4
calibers has been received in which the government saved Php1.2 billion during its
procurement process, in which allows the government to purchase additional
12,657 M4s”
.
“The government has no plans of
slowing things down, if we have the change to make our military defense more
efficient, we will do it” Aquino said.
Much kudos to President Noynoy! Whereas during GMA's 9-year term, all that the AFP got was a toy helicopter. this time PNoy's government delivers.
