Territorial claims of the Philippines an Overview

Philippine people have no sovereignty to its land before the year 1930 as France then Japan Acquired Philippine islands. Japan as the last occupants on our land renounced their sovereignty to the Philippine islands in accordance with the Treaty of San Francisco.

Relinquishment on the rights of the islands was issued without special beneficiary.


The year was 1956 when Tomas Cloma a citizen of the Philippines declared our state with 53 features on SCC. He called it “Freedom land”. When the Republic of China move to the main island, Cloma sold those islands to the government of the Philippines, this later annexed the Philippine islands in the year 1978.

The island were called “kalayaan”, this was then formalized by President Marcos of the Philippines, when he issued a presidential decree declaring those island reffered to Spratly islands as Philippine territory referenced at decree No. 1596.


Scarborough Shoal in the Philippines and Huangyan islands in China has been claimed by both Philippines and Republic of China, in reference the claimed island is 100 miles away from Philippines and 500 miles away from china.
