Confirmed - Israeli Firm winner for the Force Protection Equipment of Marine Corps and Philippine Army

After the post of qualification was done by Philippines', DND(Department of National Defense) determined that a joint venture between Filipino shipbuilder Colorado Shipyard Corp. and Israeli protective equipment manufacturer Achidatex Nazareth Elite won the tender for our  Force Protection Equipment purchase Project for Marine Corps and Philippine Army.

A Notice of Award was already provided on the joint venture with Colorado Shipyard as the local promoter on behalf of Israeli manufacturer.

The Budget for the said Contract for the project was Php 1,763,200,00.00. The amount submitted by the joint venture was at around P1.4 billion for the 44,080 body armors required by DND. The Invitation to Bid was issued on February 2013.

Delivery stated by DND to be 365 days from opening of Letter of Credit. So far, a formal signing of contract between DND and joint venture has not yet made, but it is expected that the initial batch of protection vests will be delivered to the AFP around 3rd quarter of 2015.

The Force Protection Equipment is said to weigh between 5.8 to 6.8 kilograms each item, with consideration to the standard structure of the body of a typical Filipino soldier.

This was actually the second try by DND to bid out requirement. Its first attempt was done last 2012 with the lowest bid by UM-Merkata DOO, but they failed the post qualification inspections and according to sources, the PA and PMC also slightly revised the specifications that were used in the latest bidding.
