Another civilian airliner crashed
minutes after take-off in an inhabited area in close proximity to Tehran's
Mehrabad airport, news agencies in Iranian said, with reports that initially 50
people were killed.
The plane was supposed to fly to
the city of Tabas, IRNA and Fars news said, and crashed at 9.18 am (0448 GMT).
The officials in IRINN television
channel said that the plane crashed in Azadi neighborhood, in the west airport,
but did not state if the fatalities or if people were killed on the crash area.
“The passengers are all dead,"
a service fire spokesman said on IRNA news agency. A second unnamed individual said
48 people onboard on the turboprop An-140 civilian plane when it crashed.
Mehrabad is Iran's main domestic
hub and the busiest among the country's airports that has been serving routes
to all cities in Iranian.
Most of its international flights
take off from Tehran Airport, located further west of Iranian capital.
