It’s an all systems go for GBP (Global
Business Power Corp.) as it focus on its completion of the construction of the
expansion of the 150-megawatt (MW) by July 2016 for in PEDC (Panay Energy
Development Corp.) the 3 units of power
plant that will provide strategic resource and partner with the Iloilo and greater
Visayas region for its growth.
The imaginative intent was to
expand by utilizing two 82-MW units.
“But it made sense to construct single
150-MW unit due to positive economic growth in Panay Visayas region in order to
provide power at lowered price,” explained by the GBP executive VP Jaime
Azurin.
PEDC already offering rate of
P5.05 per kwH to Panay—Guimaras Consortium and sent its offer to other Visayas,
Leyte and Cebu to utilize its capacity as resource and to address its need for
power security at a lowered energy cost.
Azurin said that the rate is the
lowest in Negros and Negros.
Lower than P0.25 compared to
other power generators with an average rate of Php.5.30 in Visayas, He also
said that the construction works for new plant are now ongoing as planned.
