Expansion on Panay Power Plant now on track

It’s an all systems go for GBP (Global Business Power Corp.) as it focus on its completion of the construction of the expansion of the 150-megawatt (MW) by July 2016 for in PEDC (Panay Energy Development Corp.) the 3 units of  power plant that will provide strategic resource and partner with the Iloilo and greater Visayas region for its growth.

The imaginative intent was to expand by utilizing two 82-MW units.


But it made sense to construct single 150-MW unit due to positive economic growth in Panay Visayas region in order to provide power at lowered price,” explained by the GBP executive VP Jaime Azurin.

PEDC already offering rate of P5.05 per kwH to Panay—Guimaras Consortium and sent its offer to other Visayas, Leyte and Cebu to utilize its capacity as resource and to address its need for power security at a lowered energy cost.

Azurin said that the rate is the lowest in Negros and Negros.


Lower than P0.25 compared to other power generators with an average rate of Php.5.30 in Visayas, He also said that the construction works for new plant are now ongoing as planned.
