Insulting a “world—class” defense

Binay daughters should better keep their mouth shut if they want that their father to become the president of the Philippines.

Their defense style to their father VP Binay towards the allegations on plunder which involves the construction of the building in Makati City when he was the mayor is not at all amusing. It is now insulting.

Senator Nancy elder of the Binay’s daughter who rose from insignificance to rank as fifth in the last 2010 senatorial elections, she have rejected criticisms of her brother’s description on the controversial building as world class by saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.”

“Siguro that’s their opinion, ‘di ba? ‘Di ba, parang beauty din ‘yan eh… It’s in the eyes of the beholder,” a line told by Senator Nancy Binay on an interview.

“Siguro ganoon din ‘yun sa building, ‘di ba? Para sa kanila, hindi ganoon kagandahan pero sa amin maganda na ‘yan. Lalo na kapag nakapag-ikot ka sa buong Pilipinas. I don’t think may makikita kayong ibang LGU building na ganoon ang itsura,” Binay explained.

It was then Nancy’s brother, the Makati Mayor “Junjun” Binay, who has described the Makati building as “world-class” when he appeared at a public hearing by Senate blue ribbon to answer all the allegations on the grossly overpriced Makati building.

On a Senate hearing, Peig, the assistant VP for legal of building contractor on Hilmarc’s Construction Corp., was obviously evasive when he was asked if it was a world—class.

“We’re not saying it’s world class. We’re also not saying that it’s not world class,” Peig said.

Peig admitted that the Makati building was not “certified green building” because it did not undergo a certification process, but some building feature’s are “green.”

How much was the actual price of the said building?

The nine-page moan filed by Office of the Ombudsman by Bondal and Enciso VI accusing Vice President Binay for plunder, said that the Makati building was amounted to Php.245.56 million but overpriced by by P1.314 billion. And the final contract price was Php.1.56 billion.

 “The most expensive parking building in the entire country, if not the entire world.”
