"IS is now using heavy weaponry to
fight enemies in its artillery and tanks," this was said by Rami
Abdel Rahman the Observatory director, adding that there are thousands of
Kurdish fighters defending the enclave were being encircled in a pincer
movement.
Speaking to the AFP via Internet,
activist Kobane said that the fearful villagers were pouring into town from the
surrounding countryside.
"If the situation does not change,
higher possibility that (IS) will enter the city," Jan Ali said,
using pseudonym to protect his identity.
"In Kobane, we are
now seeing signs of a humanitarian crisis," now that IS had cut
off power and water.
Ali said that the Turkish
authorities were blocking their only safe way out, over the border.
Exiled National Coalition opposition
warned "the danger of a massacre" in Kobane, after the dogged
resistance put up against IS by the Kurdish fighters in the area.
