Evander Holyfield the Former heavyweight
champion of the world dared Mayweather Jr. to face Pacquiao in what has already
been long—overdue fight.
Holyfield known for his showdowns
with fellow stars like Lennox Lewis and Mike
Tyson during the his glory days of heavyweight division, warned Floyd Mayweather
that not fighting Pacquiao would result a big asterisk in his legacy.
"If he retires without doing super fight with
Pacquiao, then I would not think him as champion. Champions accept any fight
put in front of them. But if Floyd Mayweather does the fight — win or lose — he
will be an all time great and true champion in my book,” wrote in Facebook
post by Holyfied.
Mayweather provided glimmer of
hope to the indefinable mega bout after declaring he is open to meet Pacquiao
in what is expected as the richest fight in boxing history. The undefeated
American outpointed Maidana in their rematch and has probably no other choice
but to fight Pacquiao the Filipino icon.
In the meanwhile Pacquiao needs
to get past Algieri this coming 23 in order to keep Mayweather fight alive. The
fighter who fondly calls himself “Money” earlier said he will retire
from boxing in 2015 and is looking at fighting two more times.
Holyfield, hopes one of those
bouts will be against Pacquiao.
