A ferry sank off in Southern
Leyte near Surigao, the rescue operations are now ongoing, according to the Southern
Leyte Governor Roger Mercado.
As the Strong waves spawned due
to the southwest monsoon have caused Maharlika 2 passenger ferry, a roll off,
roll on ferry to sink Saturday afternoon.
The ship, came from San Ricardo
of Southern Leyte, was bound for Surigao City.
The official said that two ships,
one foreign and the other a sister vessel, Maharlika 4 have responded and were
conducting search and rescue operations.
As of now 13 passengers were
rescued and were brought to Maharlika 4.
